There is always the possiblity that an incident may occur at Flipside requiring the coordination of many of our volunteer departments until Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, or other emergency services can assist.
As a community dedicated to taking care of itself, we have adopted a variation of the Incident Command System used by 'real world' emergency services to address emergency incidents that tax our event resources or require outside agency assistance.
To make it easy for anyone to learn, we have distilled the basic principles of ‘Real-World’ ICS and applied them to our Flipside Volunteer structure. The result is a short presentation (there are just 22 slides) that we hope everyone can understand.
This is the second year we are implementing this program, and we are still learning how to better support our community. Please be patient as we continue striving to make responding to and resolving any potential incidents easier and more efficient.
Please share this with each other and your departmental volunteers. This program is designed to set a foundation of rules so anyone can understand how they may be able to help in a crisis.
For the record, no one is obligated to help in any incident; we’re presenting this so if folks want to help, they know how to participate.
