Song of the Sun

The Song of the Sun is a sound installation that takes the Sun's rays and turns its light into music. The music can be altered by using shadows to change the frequencies. A solar powered theremin resides inside each piece of the Song of the Sun. This theremin is constructed using a solar panel which powers the circuit board; light is the only power source. As participants use their hands or bodies to cast shadows over the solar panel, the frequencies change. Clever participants can create recognizable songs through use of shadows. The Song of the Sun will play even without participants present.
